ASMP Staff
Matthew Schroeder is the Director of the Arms Sales Monitoring Project. Since joining FAS in February 2002, he has researched and written on US arms transfers, arms export policies, and the illicit small arms trade. He is a co-author of the book The Small Arms Trade (Oxford: Oneworld Publications, 2007) and has written articles for Arms Control Today, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, Defense News, African Analyst, Defense Technology International and the Disarmament Forum. He has given dozens of television, radio and print media interviews, appearing on, inter alia, CNN, BBC, and the History Channel.
Mr. Schroeder has served as chair of the Arms Transfers Working Group, an alliance of arms control, human rights and religious groups based in Washington, DC. He graduated summa cum laude from Wittenberg University (Springfield, Ohio) with a bachelor's degree in history and received a master's degree in international security policy from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
